How to cancel a car parking ticket

Once you’ve received a parking ticket, don’t think that you don’t have a chance to do something about it. It is always worth your time to write a letter and request that the ticket be cancelled. There have been cases that the ticket has been completely dismissed, or even if your request is denied, they may offer you a longer time period to pay your ticket.
There are key factors that will help you when looking into fighting a ticket, such as collecting evidence in your favor. As soon as possible try to take pictures of the area where you have received your ticket. Any cameras pictures will be fine, such as a camera phone or a digital camera. Here are some things that may help you when looking to gather evidence to defend your claim:
• Unclear signs, suspended bay signs or residents parking signs
• Unclear bay markings, or red/yellow lines that cannot be properly seen
• Any area without a sign or marking that you believe should be there should be taken into account

Documents are also considered power evidence in your case while fighting your ticket. These documents can include reasons that you may have misunderstood the signs. Include any of the following in your appeal:
• Any proof of mitigating circumstances
• Reference numbers
• Witness statements

How to appeal the ticket

An appeals process is set up to allow drivers that believe their ticket is unfair a chance to fight the ticket in the court system. You’ll want to make sure you take the following steps when considering appealing your ticket.

1.) Check if there was an error: It is possible that the council made an administration error on their part. 2.) Photograph the surroundings of the scene of the ticket: There are many signs that may have been unreadable, covered by trees, or blocked in some other way. Taking proof of this type of situation will greatly help you.
3.) Appealing: The type of appeal that you will have to go through differs depending on exactly what type of ticket you have received. The appeal can involve writing a letter, providing evidence that you had no wrong doing, or simply an apology.
